Already being a standard audio codec in the broadcasting industry the products of MAYAH Communications GmbH combine impressive plug-and-play simplicity with power-user performance and features. These include mono, stereo and multichannel audio over ISDN, IP (multicast / unicast), X.21 / V.35 and E1 broadcast interfaces and networks, as well as support of the widest possible range of network protocols and all professional broadcast algorithms: G.711, G.722, the whole MPEG range, including MPEG-4 HE AAC v2, Eapt-X, ADPCM4SB/MICDA, J.41, J.57 and others. Now the CENTAURI II, MERK II and Ganymed 1102 audio codecs are getting further IP protocols implementations, additional interfaces and power redundancy. AES Transparent option allows transmission of up to 4x AES/EBU signal streams each with 3.072 Mbit/s ensuring the highest possible audio quality at all. Transparent means the simultaneous transmission of the 24-Bit audio signals and 8-Bit additional signals. This is particularly suitable for the transmission of a Dolby-E or DTS signal. MAYAH combines in the CENTAURI II features from MPEG and APT codecs with the advantages of the AES/EBU transparent transmission. Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) provides the codecs with enormous flexibility and future expansion possibilities for the operation in the IP networks. Together with the other protocols it allows to establish, control, terminate and modify point-to-point and multipoint connections. The operations are similar to the well-known among the European broadcasting professionals ISDN-session initiation. Support of MPEG Transport Streams (TS) with a Forward Error Correction (FEC) expands the capabilities of MAYAH Audio Codecs family even further. It provides very reliable connections for many possible broadcasting applications and in particular for the highly standardized MobileTV environment (DVB-H and DMB). ASI interface which also available for the CENTAURI II Audio Gateway Codecs is designed for an effective transmission of the MPEG Transport Streams (TS) over coaxial cable, with a variable payload datarate of 0 – 214 Mbit/s within the 270 Mbit/s physical ASI link data rate. This particular interface is recommended for use in the DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting) environments. Dual Ethernet option allows CENTAURI II to distribute the audio-over-IP and remote control data streams over two separate logical networks. The second Ethernet card can be also used for a fully redundant audio streaming.
Among other new options available for MAYAH Audio Codecs are hot swappable redundant power supplies and Opto In / Relay Out interface, as an alternative to the TTL IO. “Such additions to our products functionality show our full commitment to a continuity in our R&D efforts. We fulfill customers requests but also extend the field of possible applications for our codecs even further”, - says Detlef Wiese, CEO and one of the founders of MAYAH Communications GmbH. “Being already widely used by broadcasters in the permanent installations or during events such as Football World Cup in Germany or Eurovision Song Contest in Greece this year, MAYAH products provide the customers with an unbeatable flexibility. They operating over IP, ISDN or dedicated networks and feature every imaginable professional coding algorithm which is in major use”, adds Mr. Wiese.
