at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2007 in Rotterdam

January 3d, 2008, Hallbergmoos: Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2007 took place in December in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Young artists aged from 10 to 15 years from 17 countries participated in the contest. More than a dozen of commentary positions were set up on site by the host broadcaster AVRO. Just like at the two last “big” Eurovision Song Contests in Athens and in Helsinki each position was equipped with a MAYAH MERK II, the IP/ISDN Codec & Mixer.

MAYAH’s distributor Heynen B.V. supported Dutchview company, the system integrator appointed by the host broadcaster AVRO, during the rehearsals and the event itself.

As usually the commentators’ boxes were directly connected to the main control rooms of corresponding national broadcaster, so that the greater technical and costs flexibility could be reached during the production. Using MAYAH’s FlashCast Technology of automatic recognition of the remote codecs all the units successfully connected to various equipment on the other side and transmitted the audio in different formats. This time the extended mixing presets of MERK II were widely applied to provide more communication possibilities while keeping the controls as simple as possible. Special features of MAYAH devices were used as well. For example, using a Dual Codec mode a Russian delegation have established two independent connections to their studio via one unit: one for commentator and one for an assistant.

The winner of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2007 has become Alexey Zhigalkovich from Belarus with his song “S druzyami” (“With friends”). The next Junior ESC will take place in Limasol on Cyprus in November 2008.
