As part of it's sponsoring activities MAYAH supported the live broadcast of the SchoolJam contest finals with a Centauri Audio Gateway Codec. This years SchoolJam finals were at Musikmesse Frankfurt and also supported by MM-Musik-Media Publishing, German Music Council, TV-channel VIVA and Aktion Mensch.

SchoolJam is the chance for young artists to start a real career and on 31st March, Radio "OK Lübeck" transmitted the performances of the eight best German school bands to the North of the country, live. To ensure the highest quality at the comparatively low bitrate the signal was encoded with AAC at 128 Kbit/s.

More than 800 bands took part in this years contest with listening tests conducted in more than 50 German cities. The best eight were invited to Musikmesse and performed in front of their fans, relatives, general public and a top-class jury. Among the judges were leading journalists and artists such as Thorsten Mewes from Die Happy and Henning Rümenapp (ex-Guano Apes).

The winner was the band Shenaniganz from Mühldorf am Inn who will now get the chance to film their first professional video, prod uced by one of the best studios in Germany. They will also be performing at the "Rock am Ring" 2006 festival, where artists such as Metallica, Depeche Mode, Guns N' Roses, Korn, Placebo, Richard Ashcroft, Jamiroquai, Bloodhound Gang and Goldfrapp will also be performing.

The German-French Youth Society special prize went to this years youngest participants, Rolling Caps (pictured above), whose four members are all just 13 or 14 years old. They win the chance to go on tour, travelling and performing for a week in the South France.
