Bavarian Public Radio (BR) chooses CENTAURI II for their new OB Vans |
||
Munich, 04.10.2007: Eight CENTAURI II IP Audio Gateway Codecs with ISDN option and redundant power supplies for absolutely fail-safe operation will be installed soon in the four new 16-tonn OB Vans of the Bavarian Public Radio (Bayerischer Rundfunk). Their operation start is planned for the second quarter of 2008. Three of the vehicles are intended for the Munich broadcasting centre, another one – for the regional Studio Franken in Nuremberg.The codecs will be used for all types of the live transmissions. From two-minutes contributions from the required locations up to transmissions of the rock concerts – everything will be sent over to the main control room in Munich or control room of the Studio Franken. At the start of the project transmissions will be done over the widely available in Germany ISDN lines. Remote control of the codecs utilizes its IP interface. Remote control software of the CENTAURI II allows not only the fast and efficient control of the units bur also the monitoring of any of the transmission parameters, including level meter in a real time mode Depending on the contents there are different coding algorithms to be used for transmissions. Low delay algorithms, such as AAC LD or 4SB ADPCM are preferable for speech, the classics like MPEG Layer 2 or Layer 3 may suit better for transmissions of music. For future use the Bayerischer Rundfunk now tests the real-time high-quality audio transmission possibilities over wireless IP-based networks. Such technologies should bring even more flexibility and mobility to the everyday work of live reporters and sound engineers of the public broadcaster. About CENTAURI II: CENTAURI II combines plug-and-play simplicity with a power-user performance and features. These include mono, stereo or multichannel audio for Point-to-Point / Point-to-Multipoint or Uni/Multicast transmissions over IP, ISDN and X.21 / V.35 broadcast interfaces, as well as support of the widest range of network protocols and coding algorithms: G.722, entire MPEG range, including MPEG-4 HE AAC v2 and MPEG-4 Low Delay, as well as Eapt-X, 4SB ADPCM, J.41, J.57 and many others. The codecs basic functionality includes Backup, Gateway, Twin/Quad Codec and many other features. New features include support of the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) for automation of the IP-based connection, higher mobility and codecs compatibility; MPEG TS over IP or ASI interfaces; ASI interface for easy integration into DVB installations; Dual Ethernet; Hot Swappable Redundant Power Supply.About MAYAH Communications GmbH MAYAH Communications is one of the leading developers and manufacturers of innovative hardware solutions for audio/video communication over IP and other network types.
