MAYAH introducing new CENTAURI audio codec generation |
Munich / Amsterdam, 10th of August 2005: A ground-breaking product development is announced at the 5th anniversary of the popular and well introduced Audio Codec CENTAURI. The Munich-based MAYAH Communications has been developing the second generation, called CENTAURI II covering almost all types of modern transmission requirments in the Broadcast industry and beyond. While so far the typical audio transmission applications either have been covered by standard ISDN audio codecs or E1 audio codecs, the market is more and more going into IT solutions requiring additional functionality, such as GATEWAY, BACKUP, MULTICAST with BACKUP and others. “CENTAURI II shows MAYAH’s leadership in audio transmission for the broadcast industry. After five years or continuous success with our audio codecs for IP and ISDN, we see the time being mature for another break. CENTAURI II really connects the broadcast world of contribution and distribution links with its IT-installations of audio logging, automation, post-production and archiving. The extension towards multi-channel 5.1 and 7.1 as well as multiple stereo offers the broadcasters a transmission device at the right time. Our experience in audio-via-IP and the resulting and supported protocols allow the integration in almost any given infrastructure and any digital audio or multimedia system, whether it is in combination with third party soft- or hardware, whether it is for analog radio/TV or for digital, such as DAB, DRM or DVB-H”, states Detlef Wiese, General Manager and founder of MAYAH Communciations. “The support of various IP protocols is really a key for the integration in so many applications, even beyond broadcasting”, adds Joerg Rimkus, General Manager and founder of MAYAH. “SAP and SDP which are session description and announcement protocols are important for the combination of our audio and audio-video products with setop boxes and other devices. Some extensions of RTSP and RTCP are important for the support of DVBH. MAYAH’s products are in the position to stream even MPEG-4 AAC HE multichannel to handhelds/mobiles via DVB-H.” As a multi network interface and multi algorithm audio gateway codec, the CENTUARI II supports almost any encoding format, such as G.711, G.722, Layer 2, Layer 3 (mp3), mp3PRO, MPEG 2/4 AAC, MPEG-4 AAC HE, apt-X, Eapt-X, J.41, J.57, linear audio, ADPCM4SB and more, networking via IP, ISDN, X.21/V.35 and E1. CENTAURI II is available as Stereo version (3000/3001), Multichannel version (3300/3301) and StreamingServer version (4000/4001). There are upgrades available to move between models after having them.
