|
August 16, 2006. Hallbergmoos. This year at IBC MAYAH focuses on successful audio and video encoding solutions for MobileTV (DVB-H / DMB) and SD IPTV, as well as on further developments for mono, stereo and multichannel audio transmissions over variety of networks and protocols. Another point for MAYAH in Amsterdam will be the constantly growing integration capabilities of its codecs within new and existing DVB installations. With audio via IP becoming more and more a replacement of existing synchronous networks and even being a subject of EBU standardization efforts, MAYAH products view back to a history of more than 6 years supporting IP protocols and are accepted by many European broadcasters as a standard. Their application range becomes even broader with the latest developments in the video broadcasting field. Video Audio video en/decoder IO [io] 8000 / 8001 and Audio Gateway Codecs CENTAURI II 300x and 400x support MPEG-4 SP, ASP, H.264/AVC as well as MPEG-4 HE AAC v2 encoding algorithms. They were used for multiple MobileTV and IPTV trials all over the world in 2005 and 2006. Among the broadcasters which utilized them are Bavarian Television (Bayerischer Rundfunk) and T-Systems in Germany, TDF in France, several broadcasters in South-East Asia and Australia..
IO [io] secures the stream of a highest end-device compatibility and perfectly optimized for the most MobileTV applications, using technologies like CABAC, Loop Filter, Look-ahead, Scene Change Detection and 5 complexity modes for different platforms. The codec also features MPEG TS (Transport Stream) with FEC (Forwards Error Correction) over IP and ASI interfaces, as well as “pure” IP / RTP based transmission of audio/video signals with an incredible low latency. ISMA 2.0 compliant streams are fully interoperable with QuickTime, Windows Media, Real, VLC and set-top-boxes. This is particularly useful for an IPTV applications. Audio Audio en/decoding solutions of MAYAH combine a plug-and-play simplicity with a power-user performance and features. These include mono, stereo and multichannel audio for Point-to-Point / Point-to-Multipoint or Uni/Multicast transmissions over IP, ISDN and X.21 / V.35 broadcast interfaces, as well as support of the widest range of network protocols and coding algorithms: G.722, the whole MPEG range, including MPEG-4 HE AAC v2, Eapt-X, 4SB ADPCM / Micda, J.41, J.57 and many others.
Original developments such as Backup and Gateway functions, Twin/Quad Codec and FlashCast technologies allow respectively automatic switching to another stream/network in case of the main route failure, real-time audio re-streaming with any network / coding settings, simultaneous transmission to various destinations with various stream parameters and automatic recognition of more than 95% of all encoded audio signal types in the world.
