MAYAH@ World Youth Days 2005 in Cologne

During the pope's visit in Cologne for the 20th World Youth Day 2005 WDR organized a professional audio transmission via UMTS. The innovative solution was provided by products of the companies Vodafone, konzeptpark and MAYAH. Papst Benedikt XVI. was on a Rhine boat during the distance of the Bridge Köln-Rodenbachbrücke to downtown Cologne "Köln-Altstadt".

During this time, WDR used MAYAH Audio Codecs CENTAURI and konzeptpark Mobile Connect Boxes in order to perform an audio transmission in AAC HE (aacPlus) with 48kbps stereo via Vodafone UMTS to a VPN Server at WDR. The IP Audio Stream is further connected to another MAYAH CENTAURI, decoded and then transmitted from the broadcast center via radio/TV. MAYAH Audio Codecs are leading in technology and can be used for high quality audio transmission applications via ISDN, E1, X.21 and IP (here UMTS). The konzeptpark Mobile Connect Box UMTS offers innovative and flexible possibilities for transmission for a variety of applications in different markets.
