Munich, 22.10.2007: Several regional broadcasters in Japan, members of the private held Japan Radio Network (JNR), chose MAYAH CENTAURI II for modernisation and extension of their codec park before the new baseball season.RKB Radio and Kyushu Asahi Broadcasting Co., Ltd received the rights for live broadcasting of all the games of the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks team in the Fukuoka prefecture. In order to successfully transmit the signal to the partner stations in the other prefectures, they require a highly flexible solution. The capability of CENTAURI II to automatically synchronise with apt-X-based devices, as well as to the most of MPEG-based audio codecs in the world, along with an extensive IP-based audio and management functionality were the main reasons for making this choice. Excellent audio quality and high performance of CENTAURI II were taken in consideration as well, reports MAYAH’s distributor and system integrator MTC Japan. Further participants of the project are radio stations from the prefectures Nagasaki, Kumamoto, Oita, Miyazaki and from Kyushu area in South Japan. Fukuoka Softbank Hawks are playing in the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) which is the top-level league of this sport in Japan, often referred as Puro Yakyu. The home stadium of Fukuoka Softbank Hawks – Yahoo! Japan Dome has the capacity of 48.000. CENTAURI II will be used to transmit atmosphere sound, as well as the commentaries, news contributions and interviews. Overall there are more than a dozen of CENTAURI II units are involved in the project. About CENTAURI II: CENTAURI II combines plug-and-play simplicity with a power-user performance and features. These include mono, stereo or multichannel audio for Point-to-Point / Point-to-Multipoint or Uni/Multicast transmissions over IP, ISDN, ASI and X.21 / V.35 broadcast interfaces, as well as support of the widest range of network protocols and coding algorithms: G.722, entire MPEG range, including MPEG-4 HE AAC v2 and MPEG-4 Low Delay, as well as Eapt-X, 4SB ADPCM, J.41, J.57 and many others. The codecs basic functionality includes Backup, Gateway, Twin/Quad Codec and many other features.
