IP Audio Codecs from MAYAH deployed in Volgograd region in Russia

MAYAH Stand at the IBC 2007 in Amsterdam: 4.155

Munich / St. Petersburg, 24.08.2007: DIGITON – one of the leading Russian system integrators for radio and broadcast solutions has installed a number of IP audio codecs from MAYAH Communications in Volgograd region in Russia. A customer is the “Polyus” company, which is now rolling out the comprehensive project for efficient signal delivery from the central studio in Volgograd up to the thirty towns and communities all over the region. The infrastructure then may be used by any public or private radio station of the region.

MAYAH equipment is used for audio distribution. Stereo signal fed to the CENTAURI II 3001 Audio Gateway Codec is being transmitted with one of the most traditional, as well as most reliable and handy formats – MPEG Layer 2, 48 kHz 256 Kbit/s.

Transmission is organized over the special VPN-Tunnel, so there is a multicast-streaming possible. Here the multimedia signal can be received by virtually unlimited number of recipients, with no network overload effects.

As receivers there are reliable and compact IP Audio Decoders Ganymed 1002 used. Supporting the MAYAH Flashcast technology, they can automatically synchronise to the multicast stream of the encoder. Ganymed 1002 provides an automatic re-sync in the case of an IP-route or power failure.

IP Infrastructure of the project allows not only the cost-efficient signal transmission but also provides the broadcaster to set up a central management system in their control room. Such system includes remote control and monitoring of all components up to the transmitters, as well as an RDS-Data insertion unit. All audio codec from MAYAH can be controlled via SNMP-protocol, as well as using an advanced windows-based Remote Control Software.
