MAYAH shows new IP Networking Solutions for Audio Distribution at AES in Barcelona

Munich / Barcelona, 28th of May 2005 : The Ganymed 1002A and PRO are the receiving end members for stereo audio via IP networks. They receive e.g. an RTP stream with MPEG 1 or 2 Layer 2, Layer 3, AAC encoded audio signals or even linear audio and convert those streams to analog (GANYMED 1002A) and/or digital (GANYMED 1002PRO) audio in professional level and format. The Ethernet-to-Audio Ganymed products have been developed for applications receiving audio in the field of "InHouseStreaming", Audio Contribution and Distribution. They can be distinguished dramatically from existing streaming solutions, because the quality levels cover a wider range from very low bit rates with AAC up to linear audio.

Broadcom, UK distributor for all audio and audio/video products, ordered in April more than 400 GANYMED 1002’s and several StreamingServer CENTAURI 4001’s for a Point-of-Sales project. The project is considered to be a positive start into the PoS business.

With the selectable audio coding algorithms it is possible to cover widely varying requirements and applications in the broadcasting house simultaneously and with the same installation. Streams can be generated on the encoding side by products like CENTAURI II 3000, 3300 and CENTAURI II 4000/4001 as well as the Ganymed 1102. Ganymed 1002 is technologically based on the experience and know-how of MAYAHs successful and worldwide renowned CENTAURI which is used in the field of high quality audio transmission via synchronous and packet orientated transmission networks. GANYMED 1002 can be used at the transmitter location to receive the digitalaudio signal and provide it in analog or digital form for the modulator for conventional AM/FM or digital broadcasting. They can be found in studios for the inhouse distribution of audio.
