MAYAH presents 5.1 multichannel coding platform
at Hohenkammer with Ensonido from Fraunhofer

Hohenkammer, October 31st, 2005 : MAYAH Communications, a technology leader in audio transmission, based in Hallbergmoos near Munich will be presenting its newest audio coding platform for multichannel signals during the International Tonmeister Symposium at Schloss Hohenkammer, Bavaria organized by VDT German Tonmeister Organisation. The Symposium will cover all topics arround 5.1 Surround Sound and last from October 31st to November 2nd, 2005.

MAYAH provides a variety of product models of its new 2 nd generation CENTAURI® Multichannel Streaming Platform for Contribution and Distribution with Streaming, Gateway, Backup and Coding Functionality applicable for the majority of Broadcast customers.

The demonstrations at the MAYAH stand will be done with the newest Fraunhofers Ensonido audio representation. Ensonido® paves the way for enjoying natural surround sound on any set of stereo head­phones, without any need for the usual large loudspeaker setup.

Ensonido was developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS. It simulates the natural reception of surround sound by the human ear, which usually receives tones from e.g. six surrounding loudspeakers and from reflections and echoes of the listening room. The »out-of-head« localization achieved that way increases the listening comfort noticeably in contrast to conventional stereo headphone listening with its »in-head« localization of all sounds.

During the Symposium MAYAH and Fraunhofer will present their most current work in paper and workshop sessions. A live presentation of 5.1 sound material with the CENTAURI multichannel audio codec in various formats such as Eapt-X, AAC and aacPlus will be performed at different bit rates and thus quality levels.

MAYAH is supplying IP Pro Audio products to the broadcast, telecommunication and ISP industry. With CENTAURI a de-facto industry standard in terms of compatibility and IP Pro Audio has been defined.
